Get Away Clean Review: Here it is in all its glory – Master P’s debut album. Get Away Clean was released as a co-release on In-A-Minute Records and No Limit Records in 1991. The track list provided on the back of the CD tray insert was printed with errors including songs not even on the album, and a mixed up running order of the songs that are included. Both the incorrect and the correct track lists are provided above, as is a scan of the cassette version, which does have the correct track-list. This album is a great, raw album that shows P as a hungry artist trying to make it in the California rap game in the early 90’s, when the major rap boom was taking over. There are songs that include uncleared samples, which was common at this time in the game since sampling was a relatively new practice. Because of the uncleared samples, you don’t see P selling or profiting from the sale of this album any longer. It appears an unknown and small-time California based company acquired the rights to re-press the album, because re-release pressings of this album are available.

Top Three Songs On Master P’s Get Away Clean:

  1. Richtown (Radio Mix)
  2. What’s Up With That (Street Mix)
  3. Saxophone feat. Big O, Sonya C (Street Mix)

Interesting Facts About Get Away Clean:

  • Master P sold this album from the trunk of his car around Richmond, California.
  • Get Away Clean is Master P’s debut solo album.
  • Master P’s wife, Sonya appears on this album under her rap name “Sonya C.”
  • The liner notes list the members of Master P’s group T.R.U. (The Real Untouchables) as including Master ‘P, Chilly Powdah, Spill, TYC, G-Man, and King George.
  • This release contained a mail in card to request a full In-A-Minute catalogue [sic].
  • The song “Crooked Ass Law,” is listed on the first incorrect track-listing, but is not actually on the CD.  However, Crooked Ass Law can be found on the Mind Of A Psychopath release by The Real Untouchables (TRU).
